ハゲタカ出版社のお誘い相次ぐ

7月にICRIIS で発表し、abstractが公開されて以来、「ジャーナルに掲載しようよ」というメールがやたら届くようになった。一見「お?!」と嬉しい気持ちになったかと思えば、よくよく見ると返信用のメールにhotmalが使われていたり、David Publishing と David Publisher 両方が入っていていかにも怪しかったり。そもそも、同じ発表に対して、全然分野が違うジャーナルかつ同じ出版社からオファーとか、怪しさ満載である。

 

"Predatory Journal" で検索すると、Beall氏のリストをはじめとして、いわゆる金もうけのための「ハゲタカ出版」の出版社や雑誌名が出てくるが、まさに当てはまるところだった。

しかし、知らなきゃ返事してしまうだろうな。特に博士課程在籍中だったり、業績が必要だったりするときは。ご参考までに、David Publishing (publisher) からそれぞれ届いたメールを載せておこう。

After your paper reviewed and accepted to be published, we will ask you to modify your paper according to the reviewers' comments, and sign the copyright, then once we got these two documents, we will confirm the total pages and the total fee and send you the ways of making the payment. Once we got the payment, we will arrange the paper to be published.

Each issue brings you critical perspectives and cogent analyses, serving as an outlet for the best theoretical and research work in the field. The purpose of the journal is to further the understanding of the theory and practice of sociology by publishing articles of interest to practitioners and scholars. The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles, review articles, case studies, exemplar profiles, viewpoints and research results from practitioners of all grades and professions, academics and other specialists on the broad spectrum of sociology.

 

The topics covered in the journal include (but not limit to): culture; criminality, deviance, law and punishment; economic sociology; environment; education; family, gender, and sexuality; health and illness; Internet; knowledge and science; media; military; political sociology; race and ethnic relations; religion; social networks; social psychology; stratification; urban and rural sociology; work and industry; sport sociology. Information for Authors

  1. The manuscript should be original, and has not been published previously. Do not submit material that is currently being considered by another journal.
  2. Manuscripts may be 4000-12000 words or longer if approved by the editor, including an abstract, texts, tables, footnotes, appendixes, and references. The title should be on page 1 and not exceed 15 words, and should be followed by an abstract of 100-200 words. 3-5 keywords or key phrases are required.
  3. The manuscript should be in MS Word format, submitted as an email attachment to our email address. 
  4. The standard publication fee in the journal is 60 US dollars per page, and the pages are calculated based on the layout of the printed journal.
  5. Authors of the articles being accepted are required to sign up the Transfer of Copyright Agreement form.
  6. Author will receive one hard copy of the journal containing their articles.

 

Peer Review Policy

Sociology Study is a refereed journal. All research articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymised refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.

 

Editorial Procedures

All papers considered appropriate for this journal are reviewed anonymously by at least two outside reviewers. The review process usually takes four weeks. Papers are accepted for publication subject to no substantive, stylistic editing. The editor reserves the right to make any necessary changes in the papers, or request the author to do so, or reject the paper submitted. A copy of the edited paper along with the first proofs will be sent to the author for proofreading. They should be corrected and returned to the editor within seven days. Once the final version of the paper has been accepted, authors are requested not to make further changes to the text.

 

Submission of Manuscript

All manuscripts submitted will be considered for publication. Manuscripts should be sent online or as an email attachment to: sociology@davidpublishing.com or sociology288@gmail.com.
